BAITSHARK Kayak Livewell - 5.5QT

$89.99

Trusted by over 2000 kayak anglers

  • KEEPS BAIT ALIVE ALL DAY: Unlike traditional live bait tanks that deplete oxygen quickly, the Baitshark’s patented design uses pressure differences from water movement to force fresh, oxygen-rich water to constantly flow through the bait chamber without the need for pumps, hoses, aerators, or batteries– the system runs entirely on the natural movement of the kayak.
  • HYDRODYNAMIC DESIGN FOR LESS DRAG: The Baitshark livewell for fish is engineered with a streamlined shape specifically to reduce resistance while paddling or pedaling. It’s ideal for long fishing sessions and tournament competitors who need to cover water efficiently.
  • SPACE SAVING BAIT KEEPER: Kayak anglers are already working with limited space and need room for fishing gear and equipment. Baitshark lives in the water behind the kayak rather than sitting in the cockpit, keeping the deck clear and uncluttered.
  • VERSATILE AND CONVENIENT LIVE WELL BUCKET: The Baitshark is built for both saltwater and freshwater environments and handles everything from live shrimp and pinfish to sardines, mackerel, live minnows, and finger mullet. It’s the ideal bait station solution for a broad range of target species, including redfish, snook, trout, striped bass, halibut, and more.
  • PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA WITH MARINE-GRADE MATERIALS: Baitshark kayak accessories for fishing are manufactured domestically using durable materials built to withstand the demands of real-world saltwater and freshwater fishing conditions. For anglers who prioritize quality construction and American craftsmanship, Baitshark premium bait holders are purpose-built and designed to last.

Built for Kayak Anglers

BaitShark was designed for anglers who need live bait to stay healthy without taking up valuable kayak space. Whether you paddle, pedal, or troll, BaitShark keeps your setup cleaner, quieter, and more efficient.

Works With Popular Live Baits

Use BaitShark with live shrimp, pinfish, finger mullet, minnows, shiners, sardines, mackerel, smelt, and other common live baitfish. Healthy bait creates a more natural presentation and helps attract predatory fish.

Designed for Target Species

BaitShark is built for anglers targeting redfish, snook, trout, tarpon, striped bass, halibut, salmon, rockfish, flounder, and other predatory fish that respond to lively, natural bait.

No Batteries. No Pumps. No Hassle.

BaitShark uses natural water circulation while your kayak moves through the water. That means no batteries to charge, no pumps to fail, no hoses to manage, and no bulky bait bucket taking up deck space.

FAQS

What is the BaitShark?

The BaitShark is a kayak live bait system designed to help keep live bait healthy using natural water circulation while you paddle or pedal. It eliminates the need for bulky bait buckets, pumps, hoses, and aerators.

Does BaitShark require batteries or an aerator?

No. BaitShark does not require batteries, pumps, hoses, or aerators. Fresh water naturally circulates through the system while your kayak moves through the water.

What kind of bait can I use in BaitShark?

BaitShark works great with:

  • live shrimp
  • pinfish
  • finger mullet
  • minnows
  • sardines
  • shiners
  • mackerel
  • smelt
  • other common live baitfish
How long will bait stay alive in BaitShark?

Many anglers successfully keep bait alive throughout an entire fishing trip. Healthy water circulation helps maintain oxygen-rich conditions for live bait.

How much bait does the 5.5QT BaitShark hold?

Capacity depends on bait size and fishing conditions. The 5.5QT model is commonly used for live shrimp and smaller baitfish while maintaining healthy circulation.

Is BaitShark good for Hobie kayaks?

Yes. BaitShark works especially well with Hobie kayaks because pedal-drive movement continuously helps circulate fresh water through the system.

Does BaitShark slow down my kayak?

BaitShark was designed with a hydrodynamic shape to help minimize drag while moving through the water. Most kayak anglers report very little resistance while paddling or pedaling.

Why do kayak anglers use BaitShark instead of traditional bait buckets?

Traditional bait buckets can:

  • take up valuable deck space
  • require batteries and aerators
  • create noise
  • spill water
  • overheat bait

BaitShark helps simplify kayak fishing with a lightweight system designed specifically for live bait anglers.

Can I use BaitShark in saltwater and freshwater?

Yes. BaitShark is designed for both saltwater and freshwater fishing environments.

What species can I target using BaitShark?

Anglers commonly use BaitShark while targeting:

  • redfish
  • snook
  • trout
  • tarpon
  • striped bass
  • halibut
  • salmon
  • rockfish
  • other predatory species
Why is healthy bait important?

Healthy bait moves naturally, creates vibration in the water, and helps trigger predatory fish instincts. Healthy shrimp and baitfish often produce more strikes than weak or dying bait.

What is BaitShark made of?

BaitShark is made from durable marine-grade materials designed to withstand harsh saltwater and freshwater environments.

Is BaitShark made in the USA?

Yes. BaitShark is proudly made in the USA using durable marine-grade materials built for serious fishing conditions.

Does BaitShark come with a warranty?

Yes. BaitShark includes a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects.

How fast can I troll with BaitShark?

Many anglers safely troll up to approximately 4 mph while maintaining healthy bait conditions. Actual performance may vary based on bait type and water conditions.

Why is BaitShark better for kayak fishing?

BaitShark was specifically designed for kayak anglers who want:

  • healthier bait
  • less clutter
  • quieter fishing
  • reduced drag
  • more deck space
  • fewer equipment failures
  • a cleaner fishing setup
Is BaitShark difficult to use?

No. Simply attach BaitShark behind your kayak, add your bait, and fish. There are no electrical systems or complicated setups required.

Does BaitShark work while drifting?

Yes. Any natural movement through the water helps circulate fresh water through the system. More movement typically increases water exchange and circulation.

Baitshark is simply THE BEST bucket I've ever used. I've used many different types of bait buckets and bait tubes during over 12 years of kayak fishing. Baitshark offers the least amount of drag, great circulation and great capacity that keeps the bait alive. Live bait fishing was not my favorite because keeping the bait alive was a challenge and a pain in the butt. Now with the Baitshark, live bait is now my favorite to use to target many NorCal predatory fish. It’s been almost 2 years since I started using it and the built quality is excellent with zero issues. It’s worth every penny.

Great live bait tank. Does not add drag to my kayak. Is great for rough ocean fishing. Warranty support was amazing when I had a problem with a fairly old one that had a problem hinge. Sent me a replacement very quickly.

My Baitshark comes with me on every kayak outing. Bait stays fresh all day, materials abd construction is solid, and the design is great with easy access and super low drag. When pedaling from spot to spot I barely remember it’s there. Best live bait bucket ever for the yak!

Nothing and I mean nothing is better than the bait shark at keeping my fresh caught bait alive. I use it every trip in my kayak!

For years now I have depended on the Baitshark to fullfill my live bait fishing needs. Prior to using the Baitshark, I tried a variety of different live bait wells from the Hobie Livewell to a variety of floating containers. To date I have not found a portable live bait container that balances bait survivability with conservation of kayak deck space as successfully as the Baitshark. I started buying Baitsharks when they were first developed by owner Matt Avery, and every year since the product has only improved! I look forward to many more years of confident live bait fishing on my kayak with the Baitshark...Fish On!

This bait bucket it’s a complete game changer! No more loud noise from an aerator and no more drag from those bulky yellow buckets when pulling with a kayak. This thing pulls behind a kayak with zero effort and keeps your bait alive and kicking!

Durability and works like advertised

The spring in the lid easily pops out of its housing. It was easy to put back in. The lid pushes down into the tank body leaving only a smallish area to drop your bait. I have had numerous baits jump out before I got the lid closed

We redesigned the spring so that it no longer slides off the pins. Baitshark comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Contact us and we will ship you the redesigned spring. I have no fix for the bait jumping out, but at least the bait is lively!

I love my baitshark! I cast net mullet for inshore fishing from my kayak. The baitshark keeps mullet and bunker alive all day. It adds very little resistance when moving from spot to spot. I barely know it is there. I actually prefer the baitshark to my Hobie livewell. Customer service is outstanding abd the product is great. If you use live bait when kayak fishing you need the baitshark.

This kayak livewell has worked great for me. Its light, doesn't put off a lot of drag, and keeps the bait lively. If I were to lose or damage mine I would be coming right back to get another one of these baitshark livewells.

Bradford

Good morning when i got it, i notice the lid was laying down didn't think nothing was wrong with it, i figure water pressure would keep the lid close, i was wrong. so i drill two holes one on the lid and top piece and small bungee cord and it works. other than that it works, only flaw in design or i have a defect.

Brad

Hi Bradford, with the second run we had an issue with the spring falling out (about 2% of units). We have redesigned the spring to prevent it from falling out. Contact us at baitshark.info@gmail.com and we will ship you the new replacement spring free of charge under our Limited Lifetime warranty support.
